How to Use the Question Beauty Primer System
Our pigments are designed to transform depending on how you prep, layer, and mix them. Use Gel Primer for high-impact shimmer, Mixing Medium to create custom eyeliner or mascara toppers, Black Primer for maximum colour shift, and Crystal or Chroma Ink to turn pigments into long-wearing chrome tattoos.
The Question Beauty Primer System gives you multiple ways to customise your pigments, whether you want a soft wash of shimmer, a bold multichrome lid, a liquid liner, a custom lash topper, an intense black-base effect, or wearable body art.
Why This Works
Loose pigments need something to grip onto, especially when you want maximum reflect, colour shift, and long-lasting wear. Each primer or mixing product creates a different finish. Gel Primer gives pigments a tacky base to cling to, Mixing Medium turns them into a liquid formula, Black Primer deepens the shift, and Crystal or Chroma Ink creates a long-wearing base for chrome tattoo designs.
How to Do It (Step-by-Step)
Method 1: Layer Pigment Over Gel Primer
Apply a thin layer of Gel Primer to the eyelid
Let it become slightly tacky, not fully dry
Press pigment on top using a flat brush or fingertip
Tap rather than swipe for maximum payoff
Build until you reach your desired intensity
Method 2: Mix Pigment With Gel Primer
Place a small amount of pigment onto a mixing palette or clean surface
Add a small amount of Gel Primer
Mix until you create a creamy pigment texture
Apply directly to the lid with a brush or fingertip
Blend quickly before it sets
Method 3: Mix Pigment With Mixing Medium to Create Eyeliner
Place a small amount of pigment onto a mixing palette or clean surface
Add 1-2 drops of Mixing Medium
Mix until it becomes a smooth liquid liner texture
Apply with a fine liner brush along the lash line
Use it for a wing, graphic liner, or lower lash line detail
Let it set before touching or layering
Method 4: Mix Pigment With Mixing Medium to Create a Mascara Topper
Place a tiny amount of pigment onto a mixing palette
Add a small drop of Mixing Medium
Mix until you create a smooth, lightweight liquid texture
Use a clean spoolie or mascara wand to pick up the mixture
Apply lightly to the tips of the lashes over mascara
Let it dry before adding more layers
Method 5: Layer Pigment Over Black Primer
Apply a thin layer of Black Primer to the eyes or lips
Keep the layer smooth and even
Press pigment on top while the base is still slightly tacky
Layer until the colour shift looks bold and reflective
Use on the eyes for maximum multichrome depth, or on the lips for a dramatic colour-shifting finish
Method 6: Use Crystal or Chroma Ink for Chrome Tattoos
Start with clean, dry skin
For even better grip, gently wipe the area with rubbing alcohol and allow it to fully dry
Apply your stencil to the skin and press down firmly
Fill in the stencil using Crystal Ink or Chroma Ink
Let it become tacky, not wet
Press pigment over the top using a flat brush or fingertip
Peel away the stencil slowly
Dust away any excess pigment once the design has set
Once done, your art should last on the skin for 3+ days!
