How to Make Your Own Eyeshadow Shades
Want to take your multichrome artistry to the next level?
Mixing pigments unlocks entirely new, custom shades and it’s one of the most creative ways to make your look truly your own.
The best way to start is with our True Holo pigment, its holographic particles add a prismatic sparkle to any shade, transforming regular pigments into multidimensional holographic versions of themselves.
1. Start with a Base Shade
Pick your main pigment - pick your favourite!
2. Add Your Modifier
Tap in a small amount of True Holo pigment to add holographic reflect and light play. Start slow, a little goes a long way! Mix them together in the pigment lid or on a mixing tray until evenly blended.
3. Apply Over Gel Primer
For maximum color payoff and adhesion, press your new custom pigment blend over a Gel Primer using a dense flat brush. Watch the magic unfold as the new dimension catches light differently from every angle.
Intermediate Mixes:
Once you’ve mastered the basics, experiment with color family blending:
• Gold + Teal → Creates a luminous green-gold hybrid reminiscent of molten metal.
• Magenta + Blue → Results in a vibrant violet with shifting fuchsia undertones.
• Copper + Aqua → Produces a rich sunset duochrome with both warmth and depth.
Advanced Mixes:
For those confident with ratios and tones, try complementary blending (opposite colors on the wheel) for unexpected color flips:
• Red + Green Multichrome → Creates a shadowy, color-flipping bronze that changes dramatically with lighting.
• Blue + Orange Multichrome → Results in a surreal coral-to-turquoise transformation.
• Purple + Gold Multichrome → A regal duochrome that shifts from violet fire to molten honey.
Color Theory Tips:
• Light + Dark Contrast: Mixing a light shimmer into a darker pigment brightens and adds dimension without dulling the shift.
• Warm + Cool Balance: Adding a hint of a contrasting temperature pigment makes the blend more dynamic (e.g., mix a warm copper with a cool teal).
• Holo as a Finisher: Always layer or mix True Holo last, its holographic particles enhance reflectivity but can overpower other shades if added in excess.Experiment fearlessly, the possibilities are infinite. Once you start custom blending, no two looks will ever be the same.
